Dr. Robert Mentz is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Heart Failure Section at Duke University. He is an NIH and industry funded clinical trialist. He has more than 250 peer-reviewed publications and has authored several book chapters including in Braunwald’s Heart Failure textbook. He is the Principal Investigator or Clinical Lead for a number of clinical trials including TRANSFORM-HF (NHLBI-funded pragmatic trial of diuretics in HF), PARAGLIDE-HF (sacubitril/valsartan in HFpEF), and HEART-FID (IV iron in HFrEF). He serves as a DSMB and CEC member and/or chair for a number of trials including for the National Institute of Mental Health’s DSMB committee. He is an Associate Editor for Circulation: Heart Failure. He is an established mentor and was the recipient of the Robert M. Califf Mentorship (DCRI), the Joseph C. Greenfield award (Duke residency) and the W. Proctor Harvey Award (ACC).
