Just Dronkers completed his Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Groningen in 2017. During his studies, he developed a strong interest in cardiology through an internship in experimental cardiology. After graduation, he pursued a career as a professional volleyball player, competing in Belgium and for the Dutch national team. In 2022, he decided to return to science and rejoined the cardiology department. His current research focuses on the underlying mechanisms of metabolic dysfunction and heart failure, with a particular interest in the role of adipose tissue.
